NAMRS Listening Sessions for Aging, Disability, and Other Stakeholders

ACL is seeking stakeholder input on potential changes to the National Adult Maltreatment Reporting System (NAMRS). The purpose of NAMRS is to increase understanding of adult maltreatment as investigated by adult protective service (APS) programs. NAMRS has collected administrative and program data from APS programs across the country since 2016.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has authorized NAMRS through early 2023. It has been reauthorized once previously, with no changes, in 2020. To prepare for the 2023 OMB reauthorization,

ACL is holding a series of listening sessions (in the form of webinars) to obtain feedback from stakeholders on potential improvements in the system.

These include a session for aging network partners on a session for aging network partners on Wednesday, April 7 at 3:00 PM EDT and a session for disability advocates and partners on Thursday, April 22 at 3:00 PM EDT.

Additional details on all of the sessions can be found below. Unless otherwise indicated, stakeholders are invited to participate in any of the listening session related to their interest in NAMRS. If you are not able to attend a listening session but would like to provide input, please contact us.

Listening sessions will include a brief overview of NAMRS and a facilitated discussion of questions related to topics covered in the session. Topics addressed in the sessions include the purpose of the data collection and potential additions or changes to the data elements and their code values.

We ask that you register as space is limited.

Your registration confirmation email will provide links to NAMRS summary background material and listening session discussion topics. We encourage participants to prepare by considering what data about adult maltreatment you currently use and what data you need to better understand adult maltreatment. For more detailed information on NAMRS, including a description of NAMRS and links to the Adult Maltreatment reports, please visit the Learning & Resources page on the NAMRS website.
