NCEA: Ageism Research Brief

The National Center on Elder Abuse and Keck School of Medicine of USC announces the release of a new research brief, “Ageism.” This research brief synthesizes research exploring the concept of ageism, its multifaceted forms, impacts, and redresses. Ageism is defined as the stereotyping, prejudice, and/or discrimination of individuals on the basis of their age. It is one of the most pervasive, yet least acknowledged and socially accepted forms of prejudice. Age-prejudice can be implicit, subtle, or evident, and consequential harms may be immediate and/or enduring. Learn more about the impacts of ageism on the community and effective interventions to address this issue.
