NCEA: How to Promote WEAAD on Social Media

Spread the word about WEAAD and your efforts to prevent elder abuse with us on social media. Using social media is an excellent way to engage our community around this important and timely subject. Below are some exciting events and tools for you to promote WEAAD 2021: 

  • Check out our social media guide. This guide includes tips on using social media platforms to promote #WEAAD as well as sample posts in English in Spanish
  • This year, the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) is excited to collaborate with Aged Rights Advocacy Service (ARAS) in Australia to host two 30-minute Twitter Chats (#WEAADwave) to get us ready for WEAADRSVP now and take a look at chat questions in advance!

  • The Walk for WEAAD campaign begins May 1st, on the first day of Older Americans Month, and runs through June 15th, WEAAD. Sign up now online or in the Walker Tracker app, so you’re ready to walk, run, or do any other activity to show your support for WEAAD. Tag the NCEA in your #Walk4WEAAD social media posts! Share photos of you and your team in purple shirts, your WEAAD ribbons, or create a purple face masks to wear.   
  • WEAAD Facebook frames are now available! Add a WEAAD frame to your profile picture to show your support and spread awareness of elder abuse. 
  • Receive a NCEA WEAAD LinkedIn Kudos! Your WEAAD ideas are terrific! Get some recognition for your hard work and share your WEAAD event with us on LinkedIn for a kudos badge on your profile from the NCEA!
  • The NCEA has a number of social media graphics and GIFs for WEAAD you are welcome to utilize to spread awareness to your followers.
