This morning, Deputy Commissioner of ADS, Suzette DeBeatham-Brown joined the Lt. Governor and Commissioners from DCP and DRS, Bryan Cafferelli and Mark Boughton at Newington Senior and Disabled Center for a press conference in recognition of ‘Slam the Scam’ Day. It is important to be vigilant in safeguarding your personal information and hanging up the phone when you feel someone is pressuring you to share this or is requesting money from you, especially in the form of pre-paid gift cards. Noone from any government agency will ever call and attempt to pressure you into giving this information over the phone. There are also many “bad actors” out there who may try to impersonate friends or family. CT Residents who are older or who are disabled are more heavily impacted by these criminals because they tend to be on a fixed income. You are not vulnerable or weak, and you are certainly not alone if you have been victimized in one of these ways and it is important to report these incidents.
